Online Exploitation of Students:

Superintendent Weaver received the attached letter and press release from South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, who asked for the Department’s help in alerting district and school personnel to some growing threats in the online exploitation of children. These online actors encourage students to produce violent/graphic content and often encourage self-harm and suicide.
CCSD has shared his letter with our school staff , school resource officers, teachers, and now with our parents/guardians, as it will require everybody working together to keep each of our students safe from online predators. The Attorney General’s office stands ready to provide follow-up resources, training, and support to any school district who may need it.

CCSD Employee Appreciation Breakfast

On March 26th, Chesterfield County School District proudly hosted an employee appreciation breakfast to celebrate the invaluable contributions of our Facilities and Maintenance Department. Organized by the Human Resources Department, this event provided an opportunity for colleagues and district leaders to extend their sincere gratitude and recognition to the dedicated individuals who ensure our schools and facilities remain safe, clean, and operational. Chief of Student Services and Administration, Dr. Omoro King, was the guest speaker for this occasion. This event reflects the District’s ongoing commitment to acknowledging the dedication and hard work of our employees, whose efforts are instrumental in the success of our schools and the well-being of our entire school community.

Teachers of the Year Finalists

CCSD 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year District Finalists

Four Chesterfield County School District teachers have been named finalists for the District’s Teacher of the Year, which will be announced at the Teacher of the Year Banquet on May 8, 2025. Janice Graham of Chesterfield-Ruby Middle, Candice Godfrey of Plainview Elementary, Laura Lovelace of McBee High, and Brenda Drye of Central High were chosen from among the 17 school-level Teacher of the Year winners.

Attention McBee Area Families:

The funeral service for Mr. Matthew Crawley, former CCSD employee, will be held at McBee High School on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. In preparation for this event, all McBee-area schools—McBee High, McBee Elementary, and Plainview Elementary—will dismiss students at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

Three Chesterfield County School District Principals, Caroline Miles, Charles Redfearn, and Dr. Shanika Harrington-David, recently graduated from the South Carolina School Leadership Executive Institute (SLEI). SLEI distinguishes itself through a unique partnership with the Truist Leadership Institute, providing veteran principals from districts statewide with the insight, knowledge, and skills needed to lead innovative and successful schools. Congratulations to them on this achievement!
